This is all I’ve ever wanted. If you know me well, you knew that. And I know I can say the same for my fiancee.
Caron Nasir Burton made his debut on June 15 at 12:42 p.m., weighing in at 4 pounds and 14 ounces.
Austin Robinson Burton followed his twin brother at 12:43 p.m., weighing in at 4 pounds and 4 ounces.
But even in those euphoric first moments, the excitement was tempered when Caron had to be rushed to the NICU due to difficulty breathing on his own right after birth. Then, on the day he was set to be discharged, an unexpected sharp drop in heart rate added more time to his sentence for observation.
After passing all the necessary tests, Caron was finally cleared after nine days of intensive care. Now that both twins are home, Tay gave me the go-ahead to announce their arrival to the world.
Everyone says 2020 has been a terrible year, and as a couple we’ve felt some of its cruelty.
We’ve suffered personal losses and professional setbacks during a global pandemic that wiped out some traditional experiences like our baby shower and having our families with us on delivery day. We also had to postpone our summer 2020 wedding after being taken for thousands of dollars by a shady business owner.
But how could we possibly say this year was anything but a blessing?
This was the year when our first and second children were born. For me, 2020 stands out as the year that I became a father and I was honored to help Tay become a mother.
